SET A DATE TO QUIT SMOKING
How to get started:
- Set a quit date
- Give up 1-2 habit cigarettes before your quit date
- Start an exercise program to relieve stress and avoid weight gain
- Take slow deep breaths when feeling stressed
- Drink a lot of water
- Talk to your doctor about medications to help you quit
- Never Give Up!

Start thinking about getting your flu shot.
Who should get the flu shot?
- Anyone over age 65
- Adults with chronic health problems such as heart disease, emphysema, cancer and diabetes
- Doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals
Influenza is a virus that causes fever, headache, joint pains and cough. The best treatment for prevention is through a yearly flu shot. If you are exposed to influenza or develop symptoms, contact your physician. There are medications available to lessen the symptoms and the duration of the illness.
HEART HEALTHY EATING
Heart Disease is the leading killer in the United States. Risk factors include: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and smoking. Following a heart healthy diet is a very important step in prevention and treatment of heart disease.
- Eat at least 5-7 servings of fruits and vegetables daily.
- Eat more almonds and walnuts 6 to 8 nut limit.
- Eat more soy products.
- Cook with olive or canola oil. Eliminate corn oil or lard.
- Switch to low-fat dairy products.
