FOR DESCRIPTION OF ROTATION
ROTATION: Podiatry
PRECEPTOR(S): Drs.
Thomas A. Pietrocarlo and James Vavra
DURATION: 2-4
weeks
1. GOALS/OBJECTIVES
OF ROTATION:
--- To
become familiar with routine foot and ankle pathology.
--- To
become aware of systemic disease that has affects in the feet.
--- To
understand gait analysis as it relates to foot and whole body function.
--- To
comprehend treatment for common foot and ankle disorders.
--- To
observe foot surgery when possible.
2. EXPECTATIONS
OF ROTATION:
--- No
lab or physician coat required.
--- Be
presentable (tie) and ask questions often.
--- Reading
material will be encouraged and supplied by preceptors.
3. SUGGESTED
PREPARATION AND REFERENCES:
--- None.

--- Monday: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00

5. WORK-UPS/WRITE-UPS:
--- The
resident will work with podiatric physician and get involved with H & P
(history and physical) of all new patients.
6. PROCEDURES:
--- Nail matrixectomy (in office).
--- Surgical experience at hospital and
surgery center (optional).
7. AVAILABLE
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES/CONFERENCES:
--- None.
8. CALL: None.
10. WEEKEND
REQUIREMENTS: None.
11. VACATION/TIME
OFF:
One week off per 4 week rotation.
12. EVALUATION:
--- Genuine
interest in the patients and their complaints.
--- Genuine
interst in foot and ankle pathology and treatment regimens.
13. CRITERIA
FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION:
--- Show
up on time, be a good observer, and ask questions.
