The Family Medicine Residency Program of the Medical College of Wisconsin has obtained osteopathic intern approval from the American Osteopathic Association. We have a combined total of 8 positions available. We will be participating annually in the Intern Registration Program (IRP).
The program is dually certified (allopathic/osteopathic), allowing osteopathic residents to become certified through the American Osteopathic Association, and providing all of our residents with opportunities to learn and practice manipulation techniques.
This training program will be overseen by Michael Plotkin, DO. Dr. Plotkin is the Director of Medical Education for the Osteopathic Intern Training Program and is currently the Chair for the Osteopathic Education Committee. He graduated from Columbia Family Medicine Residency in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2001. He currently oversees the education of osteopathic interns, monitors their progress, and is responsible for regular osteopathic educational sessions and management of the Osteopathic Manipulation Therapy (OMT).
The sponsoring institution for this program is the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri and the OPTI affiliation is with the Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institute of Kirksville, L.L.C. (OPTIK).
We are in the process of applying for a full 3 year accreditation through the American Osteopathic Association.
